Our year is divided into two seasons: summer and winter leagues. The Habersham Rapids Swim Team does not require your child to swim competitively in meets to be a part of our team.
Summer
- North Georgia Swim League www.ngsl.net
- May - July
- Compete against teams from Gainesville, Winder, Oconee County, Hart County and Blairsville.
- Usually there are 4-6 swim meets per season.
- GA Recreation and Parks Association www.grpa.org
- Swimmers have to be at least seven years old to compete in summer state.
- Top three finishers advance to State Championship which takes place in South GA (Tifton or Moultrie).
Winter
Short Course vs. Long Course
Short course swimming is done using a 25-yard pool. Most of our team's swimming is done in this format. However, long distance or older swimmers may want to consider long course format. Long course season starts around May and goes through the end of July.
